On the bright side, the weather could hardly have been nicer during our stay in the Sierra, aside from some pretty extreme winds for a day or two. And this was the first year in maybe as much as a decade where fire and smoke haven't been a factor in determining our time-frame or our choices of activity during our visit. Only at the end of our last day did we see a cloud of smoke rising out of Yosemite.
Also, despite making a last minute booking for a condo after a slightly arduous process of searching and consensus building, disliking what prices have been doing, we seem to have struck gold with our lodgings. Each their own bedroom for peace and quiet (it was peaceful and quiet), with Stella and I sharing a bathroom, the condo on three levels was spacious and comfortable. There was a lot of room to organize our gear, particularly in an otherwise unused hanging loft over the kitchen and living-room which kept our quarters pleasantly uncluttered. Everything worked (aside from the back burners of the cooking range), and believe it or not, an exhaust fan that actually blew outside and not into a cabinet! -F.
