Convict Canyon



Laurel Mountain. We had mused about maybe attempting the Mendenhall Couloir on a future trip, this being a mostly 5.0 route with 5.2 crux, and we thought to maybe explore the approach to it on our way back down from Mildred Lake. Realistically, though, while it's probably easy enough technically speaking for us to do, its length would tax our endurance, especially as we would be looking to protect things that most people would free solo. -F.

I harbored secret thoughts of scrambling to the couloir and maybe reaching the summit ridge. -S.
