Down by the lake we ate our lunch. Since Bill had heard his name mentioned, it was time to repeat to him what I had told Stella.

It was another emotional moment. For Bill this would also have consequences, as we'd been his travel partners all these years, and perhaps he'd need to find new companions.

Bill took it well, saying he understood and respected my decision, and that he had indeed known this day was coming eventually. -F.
