Postscriptum

As time passes and this trip recedes into the past, so does the intensity of the adversity and emotion, and my determination not to go to Mammoth again has softened. Perhaps with zero alcohol and nightly melatonin I might be able to sleep. Perhaps there is something I can do preëmptively to alleviate the altitude sickness, say, by acclimatizing with an altiude tent, or simply lodging in Bishop instead.

Alea iacta nondum est.
