Mammoth Trip, 2025

September 27

Horseshoe Slabs

The low angle bottom of the wall was slippery and smearing didn't feel secure. I was glad I was on top-rope! It wasn't hard to hold on, there were plenty of hand holds, but to keep the feet from slipping one needs to get one's weight over them, sticking the butt out, and then the shoulders, too are further from the wall. This was a very unaccustomed posture for me on the wall, and while the climb was technically not difficult, it was surprisingly physical. -F,
