Convict Canyon



We arrive at the first stream crossing. The rush of this waterway had accompanied us loudly up the canyon. I crossed first, initially climbing up a steep slippery rock using a bit of climbing technique to arrive at the emebedded rocks of the stream crossing. This move seemed out of sorts with the rest of the route so far. Indeed it was with some chagrin that we saw a hiker coming from opposite just walk across the stepping stones avoiding this rock entirely. "So that's how you do it", I said, feeling a bit humiliated, but also amused. -F.
