We've been coming to Mammoth for seventeen years. It's been at least one of, if not the highlight of the year with a huge investment of time and effort during our training series, and it's always been rewarded. It's always been worth it, because the Sierra is Magic. The Sierra enchants, puts a spell on you, makes you happy even when it's hard, perhaps the more so the harder it is. You enjoy just being there in awe, humbled by the immensity of the natural processes that culminated in This. It is mystical. You come over the pass and breathe in the crisp air and conifer smells and you tingle with excitement.
